Today’s
mobile phones consist of a number of different
messaging applications ranging from Short Message Service (SMS)
to MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service). The SMS service, which allows
the user to send short
text messages, is the most popular
service today but there are some limitations like limited
screen size, difficulties in keying in the message,
Unsynchronisation with other devices & no archiving facility.
SMS is becoming as a killer application in messaging services like
Foreign Exchange Inquiry, Stock Exchange Alerts, Street Guide,
Sports News, Weather Forecast etc. There is very interesting
challenge for Mobile Phone Manufacturers and Mobile operators to
turn this into a user-friendly application.
Migrating this SMS application into other devices will
eliminate its limitations by a great extent. As Bluetooth wireless
technology is an international, open standard for allowing
intelligent devices to communicate with each other through
wireless, short-range communications,
it could be used for the above effectively and efficiently.
The goal of this project is to develop SMS Plug in
application in PC ( The PC is Bluetooth enabled by Ericsson BT Tool
Kit) and communicating with the Mobile Phone (Bluetooth enabled -
Ericsson T39m ) using Bluetooth and demonstrate it.
The working model for this project comprises of “Ericssons Bluetooth
Application and Training Tool Kit” , A Computer with USB Port and
Bluetooth Enabled “Ericsson T39m” Mobile Phone. The core
programming will be on VC++ & Attention Commands ( AT
) for SMS.
